As we wrap up another summer internship program, we’re excited to reflect on the success of this year’s interns. We had the pleasure of welcoming 14 outstanding interns from across the country, each eager to dive into hands-on experiences within the construction industry. Over the past 10 weeks, these talented individuals have gained invaluable insights and personalized guidance from our seasoned project managers and mentors.

This year’s interns didn’t just observe; they rolled up their sleeves and contributed to key projects, leaving their mark on developments that will benefit communities for years to come. From renovations in Bastrop ISD to the Valor South Austin project, our interns took on significant roles in shaping these projects.

For Ashlee Seaton, this internship experience provided an opportunity to witness construction techniques firsthand. During her time on the Del Valle ISD High School #2 project, Ashlee observed the precise process of pouring a tilt-wall—a method that involves casting concrete panels on-site to form the walls of buildings.

Meanwhile, Jorge Guerra, a construction management student at the University of Texas, teamed up with Project Manager Brett Harbin to bring the Valor South Austin project to completion. From helping with furniture deliveries to ensuring every detail was in place, Jorge’s hands-on experience was both challenging and rewarding.

Reflecting on his time working with Brett, Jorge said, "Brett was incredibly supportive and always ready to answer my questions. He played a significant role in my professional development, and I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor."

Project Manager Andrew Spitzfaden, who worked closely with two interns this summer, emphasized the value of these internships for both the students and the company. “This internship is a fantastic opportunity to pass down our knowledge. I’ve really enjoyed teaching my two interns and instilling a strong work ethic in each of them.”

To wrap up the program, the interns joined CEO Marty Burger for a fun-filled outing at Spare Time, including bowling, laser tag, and arcade games. We’re incredibly grateful for the time spent with these promising students and look forward to watching their careers flourish. Best of luck to all of you in your future endeavors!
