In 2019, American Constructors founded the American Constructors Foundation, a nonprofit corporation dedicated to positively impacting communities by working with and funding local charitable organizations that support children and education.
American Constructors has a long history of giving back to the community. When Bill Heine founded the company nearly 40 years ago, he made philanthropy a key aspect of the company’s culture. Today, American Constructors continues that tradition by donating a significant portion of our earnings each year to education foundations and local nonprofits, with an emphasis on the organizations in which employees are involved.
In addition to financial gifts, American Constructors donates time and services to local nonprofits, school districts, and education foundations. In 2019, the American Constructors team donated nearly 1,500 hours of service time – from planning and executing our annual charity clay shoot and Riverbat Paddle Battle to individual employee volunteer efforts. We also love to share our expertise and resources with the community. We provide pro bono construction services to nonprofit organizations and partner with local schools and community groups to offer student learning opportunities as well as information on pursuing career paths in our industry.
American Constructors’ Annual Charity Clay Shoot benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area (BGCAA) has been a company tradition since 2012. To date, American Constructors has donated more than $350,000 to BGCAA, the leading youth development agency serving the Austin community. Through the generosity of our clients, partners, and friends, American Constructors has helped support BGCAA as they continue to enable young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.
In April 2019, American Constructors hosted the inaugural Riverbat Paddle Battle, a kayak race benefiting the Austin Community College (ACC) Foundation. The event raised $10,000 for the ACC Foundation to support student scholarships, apprenticeships, and workforce development. The family-friendly kayak race and after party will be back in 2021, bringing together the community for live music, great food, and a fun time on the water.
In 2018, American Constructors started a new holiday tradition for the company by including our friends and partners in our end-of-year giving. Recipients of our annual holiday card are given the opportunity to select a local nonprofit organization to receive a donation from American Constructors in their name. All of the local nonprofits included in our 2019 holiday campaign do important work to improve quality of life for children in our community, providing critical resources and programs that increase health, wellness, and education.
