American Constructors is proud to announce the completion of the north building of 1111 West Sixth Street, the mixed-use redevelopment of the former Austin ISD downtown headquarters.
Developed by our long-time client Schlosser Development Corporation, the four-story office and retail space was completed in late 2023 after numerous design changes stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Shortly after construction began early 2020, changing market conditions led a pre-negotiated tenant to pull back from the project, leaving American Constructors, Schlosser and architect Nelsen Partners to strategically alter site plans to accommodate the remaining anchor tenant. While the project originally called for the construction of a new 110,000 square-foot office space on the north side (Building A), plans were shifted to renovate the south structure and postpone the north building for the time being.
Building A eventually began construction in spring 2022 and opened in fall 2023. The 85,000 square-foot building includes tenants Pennybacker Capital, Doris Metropolitan, Susie Cakes, Prominent Title, EQT Exeter and Owner Resource Group.
