In our latest employee spotlight video, Field Engineer Josh Diaz shares a look into his work on the Jarrell High School Phase 2 project, which includes a competitive gym and CTE addition that’s the first of its kind for the district. Designed with specialized wings for programs like culinary, construction science, health science and broadcasting, the spaces will give students hands-on opportunities to explore their interests.

“These specialty classrooms will allow students to dial in on what they want to learn,” Josh said.

Josh’s team is currently wrapping up the foundation and moving into structural steel and wall installation at the high school. With the crane now in use, progress is moving quickly. “It’s cool to see the crane out there and see how much faster it helps the project progress,” Josh said.

The district has also played an active role throughout the process, bringing energy as the project takes shape. “You can see the excitement that it brings to the district – they enjoy seeing the progress come together,” he said.

Josh is also quick to acknowledge his admiration for the people around him. Having worked with the same team of five since his first day at American Constructors, those relationships have grown alongside the project itself. “Growing with those guys since day one has been cool,” he shared. He also finds inspiration in the positive feedback from subcontractors and the impact the work is having on the community.

Beyond the job site, his motivation stays grounded in what matters most – his family, who continue to be his biggest source of support and inspiration.
