To celebrate Women in Construction Week, the women at American Constructors gathered for a luncheon to hear from Maureen Seade, Professor of Building Construction Technology at Austin Community College (ACC). As a dedicated educator and industry expert, Professor Seade prepares the next generation of construction professionals with the technical expertise and leadership skills necessary for success.

Throughout her career, Professor Seade has navigated the challenges of working in a traditionally male-dominated industry, emerging as a leader who champions diversity, innovation, and professional growth. Her work highlights the increasing demand for skilled professionals in construction, the expanding career opportunities for women, and the critical role that diverse perspectives play in shaping the built environment.

During her talk, Professor Seade shared insights from her own career, discussed the evolving landscape of construction and provided practical strategies for career development. She emphasized the importance of paving your own path, acquiring critical skills, and positioning yourself for advancement through certifications, mentorship, and hands-on experiences. Our team also had the opportunity to share their own experiences, challenges and successes. The luncheon left team members feeling energized and empowered.

American Constructors is proud to celebrate the women who bring skill, leadership and fresh perspectives to the job site. Women in Construction Week is more than just a time for employee appreciation—it’s an ongoing movement, and we remain committed to supporting, uplifting and expanding the presence of the women at our company.

Thank you to Professor Seade for speaking with us, and thank you to those who attended this inspiring event. We are so grateful for the hardworking women at American Constructors who pave the way every day!
