The Central Texas Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors recently recognized American Constructors for the team's superior performance and leadership on projects as a part of the 2021 Excellence in Construction Awards.

Our work on The Lakeway Church Campus Expansion and the Temple High School Swim Center both earned one of only 17 Eagle Awards, the highest honor given at a chapter level. Our work on Stacy Kaye Danielson Middle School earned one of 11 Merit Awards given to Central Texas Contractors.

The Excellence in Construction Awards strives to honor those who exemplify the highest quality of workmanship in their projects, while upholding a dedication to building projects on time and on budget. Representatives of the American Constructors team joined other winning companies at an awards banquet in Austin on October 14, 2021.

In addition to the project-based awards, American Constructors earned both national and local recognition for our employees’ consistent focus on safety.

In the national Safety Training Evaluation Process—commonly referred to as STEP—our team achieved a Diamond Level Award, the highest honor, for our efforts in the development of a quality safety program. We also earned the 2021 Safety Award of Excellence from the Central Texas Chapter.

ABC member firms participating in STEP measure their safety processes and policies on 25 key components through a detailed questionnaire with the goal of implementing or enhancing safety programs that reduce jobsite incidents.

The Lakeway Church Campus Expansion

The Lakeway Church's 25,000-square-foot campus expansion included construction of new worship and fellowship areas to help serve the growing Lake Travis community. It also included a grand covered walkway to tie together the existing campus with the new additions. The new sanctuary showcases an intricate cross-hatched ceiling comprised of massive glulam beams—a feature that required extensive coordination and planning.

Temple High School Swim Center

Renovation of Temple High School's early 1970s swim center facility required a complete rebuild of the building’s steel structure frame. The competition space also included an expansion to include public restrooms, class and weight room space and a concessions area. Our team helped the mechanical engineer design a one-of-a-kind air movement system to prevent corrosion of the facility for decades to come.

Stacy Kaye Danielson Middle School

Leander ISD's two-story Stacy Danielson Middle School is a 211,000-square-foot facility that can accommodate up to 1,400 students. The campus features outdoor learning spaces and an open classroom concept for collaborative learning environments. Working against challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, our team worked around the clock and delivered a state-of-the-art facility to the district in time for the start of the 2020-21 school year.

Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved in making our projects successful!
