American Constructors is proud to be the construction manager for the New Blazier Relief Campus, a key part of the Austin ISD 2017 Bond Program. On June 4, we celebrated the groundbreaking of the new facility alongside the district, Blazier Elementary School faculty and students and the southeast Austin community.
The groundbreaking marks the start of construction for a modernized campus that will accommodate grades 4 through 6, providing immediate overcrowding relief for Blazier Elementary School. The facility will integrate new technology, collaborative workspaces and outdoor learning into the classrooms, following AISD’s educational specifications for modern learning environments.
“We are honored to partner with AISD to build this new school and create 21st-century learning spaces for Blazier Elementary students and teachers,” said Marty Burger, CEO of American Constructors. “This groundbreaking represents a new beginning for the community. We’re excited to bring the district’s vision to life and can’t wait to see students move into the facility next fall.”
The morning ceremony featured a parade from Blazier Elementary to the site of the relief campus, followed by the actual groundbreaking with students and staff turning dirt as the Akins High School band played. Guests also enjoyed performances by the Akins cheer squad and Blazier Elementary choir.
The New Blazier Relief Campus is the first phase of a strategic plan to transform the entire site into a village containing Pre-K through eighth grade facilities. American Constructors is working alongside BLGY Architects on the project, with an anticipated opening date of August 2020.
Thank you to Austin ISD, our amazing partners and to everyone who joined the celebration for the New Blazier Relief Campus!
