On January 10, American Constructors joined Bastrop ISD in celebrating the dedication of Camino Real, Colony Oaks, and Mina Elementary Schools. These projects completed construction in summer 2023 and opened to students and faculty the following fall semester.

The ribbon-cutting ceremonies featured remarks from Bastrop ISD representatives including Superintendent Barry Edwards, Deputy Superintendent Kristi Lee, and Board President Ashley Mutshink in addition to the principal from each campus. Students also participated by greeting guests, leading campus tours, and putting on dance and cheer performances.

The new Camino Real Elementary and Colony Oaks Elementary schools – designed by Stantec – are two-story, 89,640 sq. ft. facilities that each serve 824 students ranging from Pre-K through 5th grade. The entrances feature a secure entry vestibule attached to the administrative suite. The facilities also include computer labs, a science room, large group instruction space, art and music classes, a multi-functional gym and cafetorium space, and other flexible learning spaces. Additionally, American Constructors extended their project footprint at Camino Real Elementary to install a traffic signal at the intersection near the campus entrance.

In Phase I of a two-phase project, Mina Elementary School received a two-story addition designed by Stantec Architects, a new brick exterior, and updates to existing classrooms.   Phase II, expected to begin in summer 2024, will include the construction of new facilities to fully modernize the campus.

All three projects started construction in summer 2022, and were completed as part of the district’s $183 million 2021 Bond. This was the first bond voters approved for the district in 14 years.

Thank you to Bastrop ISD for partnering with us on these projects, and congratulations on your new learning spaces!
