American Constructors recently completed Austin Community College’s new San Gabriel Campus in Leander, just in time for the 2018-19 school year. Students attended their first classes in the facility on August 27.

The San Gabriel Campus marks the first major project in the City of Leander’s Transit-Oriented Development, which aims to create walkable communities close to retail, parks, schools, and employment. The urban design of San Gabriel sets the tone for the rest of the campus, which will grow to include 17 academic buildings, including a YMCA and a high school.

Sustainability is a priority for both ACC and American Constructors. San Gabriel is equipped with solar panels, automatic sun shades for increased energy efficiency, electric car charging stations and bike lanes. With 15 percent of the building constructed with recycled materials and a 95 percent construction waste diversion rate, our work at ACC Leander is slated to receive LEED Gold Certification.

Thank you to all of our partners for making the San Gabriel Campus possible, including City of Leander leadership, the ACC Board of Trustees, and the project team, which consisted of Pfluger Architects in association with SmithGroupJJR, Structures, Kimley-Horn and Shah Smith & Associates, Inc.

We are excited and proud to take higher education to the next level in Leander!
