Advice

American Constructors gives employees the opportunity to wear many hats from fieldwork and communicating with clients, to reviewing contracts and submittals. Brett’s advice to young professionals entering the field? “Be ready to work your tail off. What you put in, you’ll get back in return.”

Career Path

Brett gained an interest in construction at an early age because his father was a custom home builder, and he always enjoyed hands-on activities. This childhood passion led him to study architectural engineering at the University of Texas at Austin and intern with American Constructors. Since then, he has worked his way up to becoming a Superintendent.

Favorite Project

One of the first projects Brett worked on was 1111 West 6th Street, a mixed-use redevelopment in downtown Austin, Texas. This project faced a number of challenges stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic such as supply chain shortages, but Brett used this as a learning experience and opportunity to grow his career at American Constructors.
