Meet Jesus Flores, a project engineer who has been a vital member of the American Constructors team for the past year. Jesus is a hardworking team player who brings prior experience in residential construction.

Career Path
Jesus started working at American Constructors in late 2023, and eventually sees himself becoming a project manager. On his first project, Leander ISD Elementary #30, Jesus was able to use his Spanish language skills to help facilitate better communication among different contractors on the job site, as well as neighbors to the new school.
“Every day is a learning experience,” said Jesus. “I like working at a company where I see people I can admire — and American is a company like that. I see a lot of room to continue growing.”
Life at AC
Though the academic skills learned in school are important, the real learning happens on the job site, according to Jesus. For individuals interested in entering the construction industry, Jesus recommends a combination of both school and field work to tackle a major project successfully.
“If I were 21 or 22 again, I would recommend starting in the field. You learn how much effort is needed to pour concrete, paint a wall and set tile,” Jesus said. “My advice is to finish school and then get into the field to take on a real project.”
Outside of Work
When Jesus isn’t at work, he loves spending time with his family, building Lego towers with his one-year-old daughter, and playing soccer. He also enjoys visiting his extended family in Houston and Katy, TX. His go-to meal? Arepas! They are his favorite dish from his home country of Venezuela.
