On April 6, American Constructors presented the inaugural Riverbat Paddle Battle, a kayak race benefiting the Austin Community College Foundation!

We had an incredible day out on the water, with 72 rowers of all ages paddling to benefit ACC students. After the kayak race at Rowing Dock, guests headed to the American Legion Charles Johnson House for an after party featuring a crawfish boil, lawn games and live music by steel drummer John Skoczen and Tex-Mex blues band Buenos Diaz.

“The ACC network supports the entire Central Texas community, and we are grateful to be able to give back to such a great organization,” said American Constructors CEO Marty Burger. “We are thrilled with the success of the first year, and we hope to make the Riverbat Paddle Battle an Austin tradition for years to come.”

A total of $10,000 was donated to ACC Foundation as a result of the event, to support student scholarships, apprenticeships and workforce development. Learn more about the work of the Foundation on the ACC website.

The Riverbat Paddle Battle would not have been possible without all of our rowers, guests and especially our event sponsors. Thank you for supporting Austin Community College!

We’re already looking forward to paddling again next year: stay tuned for the 2020 event date to be announced soon!
