The new Northwest Operations Center for the Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) in Marble Falls now serves as the utility co-op’s hub and headquarters for the surrounding communities. Construction on the 10-acre site included a 28,000-square-foot, two-story operations building with office, meeting, and employee training space; a 21,370-square-foot warehouse; a 9,467-square-foot truck maintenance building; and a 915-square-foot restroom and storage building. Site improvements included widening Highway 281 for a turn lane, construction of a section of Resource Parkway, covered truck parking, and training yard. The new operations center is LEED-certified. In addition to serving as headquarters for the regional utility provider, the site will also function as a learning lab to educate the public on alternative energy sources and their effect on the utility grid.
