2023 was another great year filled with major milestones for American Constructors such as groundbreakings, grand openings, new project awards and other exciting milestones. Check out the highlights below to see what we were up to.

January 

American Constructors started off the year by making our largest donation to the Boys & Girls Club of the Austin Area (BGCAA) through the 10th Annual Clay Shoot. We visited BGCAA to present a check of the record-breaking donation and held a construction-themed relay race for the kids to learn about safety and teamwork. February 

On Feb. 17, Killeen ISD and American Constructors celebrated the dedication of Killeen High School. This ceremony celebrated the historic renovation and addition that transformed a 58-year-old building into a cutting-edge facility that includes CTE classrooms, auditorium, main gym and library, as well as a new two-story academic wing that features classrooms, a fine arts suite, athletics wing and main school entrance. March 

American Constructors officially topped out the highly-anticipated 1111 W. 6th Street North Building project, an 80,000 square foot mixed-use building that sits on a prime downtown Austin location. American Constructors and Schlosser Development celebrated the milestone by placing the final beam and enjoying a BBQ lunch. Thank you to all the team members involved who helped make this project a reality!

April 

In April, the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Austin Chapter recognized American Constructors with the Marketing Communications Award (MCA) for the company's 2022 marketing rebrand. These design updates included a new logo, website, corporate materials, values, and purpose, mission and vision statements to modernize our visual identity, foster growth in new market sectors, and enhance corporate culture from the outside in.

May 

Every year, American Constructors hosts an annual picnic to celebrate the start of summer and show appreciation to our employees who define our culture and help build projects across Central Texas. This year’s picnic at Pioneer Farms in Austin featured a watermelon eating contest, cornhole, archery, and more. Watch this video to relive the fun!

June 

American Constructors hosted another successful summer internship program that welcomed interns from colleges and universities across the country over the course of 10 weeks. Interns partnered with company mentors to receive one-on-one instruction, guide them through projects, and get hands-on learning experiences in the construction field. July

American Constructors is dedicated to its employees who are the best in the industry. This includes growing the team with people who are passionate about delivering outstanding solutions and keeping our clients’ best interests in mind. In 2023, we added 24 new employees to the team – thank you for choosing American Constructors!

August

American Constructors was awarded several new projects with Bastrop ISD that will expand and improve schools for students of all ages in this rapidly-growing community. This includes the construction of Elementary School #9 and various additions and renovations for Bastrop Intermediate, Bastrop Middle School, and Bastrop High School.

September 

American Constructors proudly unveiled three new early childhood development centers with Del Valle ISD. The Central, North, and South CDCs were built to increase the district’s capacity to care for the children of students and staff from infancy through age 4. American Constructors, along with design partner Pfluger Architects, is grateful to have been a part of this project to help provide low-cost childcare, increase staff retention, and support high school students with children of their own while earning their diplomas.

American Constructors also joined Del Valle ISD to celebrate the grand openings of the district’s newly expanded Administration Office and new Operations and Support Services building. Superintendent Dr. Annette Tielle and district trustees joined the affair to give remarks and officially cut the ribbon.

October 

October was a big month for American Constructors. We hosted the 11th Annual Clay Shoot and raised $100,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area. More than 200 participants across 40 teams came together for philanthropy and fun including door prizes, lunch, gun raffles, a flurry shoot, dinner, and awards for the top teams. We also received five Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) awards including the EIC Eagle Award for the Killeen ISD High School Modernization, the EIC Merit Award for Del Valle ISD’s Hornsby-Dunlap Elementary School and Leander ISD’s Carol Ann North Elementary School projects, and the STEP Platinum Award and 2023 Safety Award of Excellence - Central Texas Chapter for safety.

November 

Throughout 2023, American Constructors was awarded a number of school projects with the Leander ISD 2023 Building Program, continuing a strong partnership with the district. These projects include the Vista Ridge High School Modernization and Leander High School Additions & Renovations as well as new projects for Leander ISD Elementary #32, Leander ISD New High School #7, Leander ISD Early College High School, and Leander ISD New Middle School #10. We can’t wait to bring these new learning spaces to life in the coming years! 

December

American Constructors celebrated the holiday season with our annual holiday giving campaign, a long-standing tradition that helps friends and partners support local organizations in our community. This year’s card was designed by Catherine Collard, 9-year-old daughter of employee Morgan Collard. We’re proud to donate $5,000 across five non-profits that are making a lasting, positive impact on the lives of local families and children: Caritas of Austin, the Literacy Coalition of Central Texas, Mariposa Family Learning Center, Mobile Leaves & Fishes, and CASA of Central Texas.
