2024 was a landmark year for American Constructors, filled with memorable milestones such as groundbreaking ceremonies, grand openings, new project awards, and company achievements. Our team would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our incredible employees, clients, and partners for making 2024 one of our best years yet.
Dive into our 2024 highlights below to glimpse back at some of our proudest moments – here’s to an even more remarkable year ahead!
January
We kicked off the year strong with the completion of the 1111 W. 6th Street redevelopment project in downtown Austin. After a strategic pivot in design due to the pandemic, we completed the 85,000 square-foot north building, which houses tenants including Pennyback Capital and Doris Metropolitan. We’re proud of how our team navigated the obstacles to ensure the project’s success. You can dive deeper into the project in our detailed case study.
February
In February, we were awarded the Elementary School #8 project for Liberty Hill ISD. The 120,000 sq. ft. campus began construction on its modern learning spaces this fall, and we look forward to seeing this project open in fall 2026!
March
Women in Construction Week in March is always an important occasion for American Constructors. We spotlighted many of the outstanding women who help shape our projects and our company. Their passion, expertise and dedication are critical to our success, and we are grateful for their contributions to the construction industry!
April
On April 4, our team attended the Central Texas Society for Marketing Professional Services’ Marketing Communications Awards, which recognizes marketing and business development professionals in the A/E/C industry. We won Best Holiday Piece for our 2023 holiday desk calendar for inspiring positivity and showcasing our company values to employees, partners and clients. Thank you to SMPS for honoring this fun and creative project!
May
May was a busy and fulfilling month, starting with our Annual Company Picnic at Reunion Ranch in Georgetown. The event was filled with family-friendly activities, including paddle boating, zip-lining, face painting and more. It was a perfect opportunity to connect with our team and their families. Look back at the fun on our blog!
We also observed Construction Safety Week with a Safety Seminar designed to reinforce our commitment to safety standards and practices. This event included insightful remarks from company leadership and a keynote address from Eric Stephan of Safe Construction Consulting, as well as live music to round out the day. You can watch video Q&As with Joe Charlton, Dan Horan and Tom Satori on our website to learn more about how we prioritize safety at American Constructors.
June
Dripping Springs ISD held a groundbreaking ceremony for Elementary #6 in June. This one-of-a-kind elementary school will include a variety of new spaces such as an art and music room, outdoor play areas, and flexible learning spaces to foster collaboration and ignite a passion for learning. Vibrant designs inspired by the starry Hill Country nights will also span throughout the building. We can’t wait to see the end result!
July
In July, we completed San Gabriel Elementary School in Georgetown, marking our first project with Georgetown ISD. The 125,000-square-foot facility is larger than most elementary schools and has set a high bar for our future work with the district. We look forward to future collaborations with Georgetown ISD!
August
August was another standout month for American Constructors when we proudly completed two major projects. Del Valle ISD’s new P-TECH Manufacturing Studio and Early College High School building officially opened, which houses the district’s Advanced Manufacturing and Cybersecurity P-TECH programs – it even includes a state-of-the-art networking lab and a robotics arena! Watch a video on the occasion on our blog.
Texell Credit Union also unveiled its new Temple headquarters on August 13. We joined Texell, project partners and the Temple community to commemorate this unforgettable grand opening event with a unique time capsule burial to remember the milestone. This project marked a significant chapter in Texell’s nearly 75-year legacy of serving the Central Texas community. We are so grateful to have been part of this special project!
September
Our All-Company Meeting in September, themed AC Build, was an inspiring day of connection and celebration. We were thrilled to hear from motivational speaker Melvin Banks, who shared powerful insights on courage and resilience. The day left us energized and ready to tackle the next chapter together. Check out the recap video here to catch some of the event highlights!
Also in September, we broke ground on Jarrell ISD’s Operations Center, a new hub for the district’s maintenance, custodial and transportation departments. Scheduled for completion next summer, this project will provide a much-needed space to support the district’s operations.
October
October is always a special month for American Constructors as we host our annual Clay Shoot fundraiser. This year, we raised $110,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area—a record amount that will support youth programs across the region. With more than 230 participants, it was one of our largest turnouts to date. Watch the highlights video from the event here.
We also celebrated the grand opening of Hubbard Branch Elementary for Belton ISD, marking our first collaboration with the district in 20 years. Project Manager Josh Katkoski expressed the team's pride in the project, saying, “Working with Belton ISD was a rewarding experience. The district was incredibly appreciative of our work.”
November
In November, we received two Excellence in Construction Eagle Awards at the 2024 Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Central Texas award ceremony. This award, which is the highest granted at the local level, was given to the 1111 West 6th Street redevelopment and the new Del Valle ISD’s Early College High School building. We’re grateful to ABC for recognizing our work on these projects!
December
On December 10th, we proudly presented a check for $110,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area through donations from the 12th Annual Clay Shoot. These funds will help support the BGCAA’s youth programs, summer camps, and more. It’s always a great honor to present this check to the BGCAA, and we are excited to see the organization continue to grow and thrive.
Lastly, closed out the year with a festive holiday party at the Archer Hotel. Thank you to the entire team for coming out to celebrate your accomplishments in 2024 – it was a successful year, and we can’t wait to see what the new year brings!
