While school was out for the summer, the American Constructors team was hard at work preparing new learning spaces for the start of the 2022 school year. Keep reading to learn more about our recent project milestones and what’s coming up next.
Open for Learning
Alongside Del Valle ISD, we celebrated the grand opening of Smith Elementary School, a modernized replacement facility that serves the district’s growing population. The school opened to students for the first day of school in August.
We also opened Chaparral High School, the first new high school built in Killeen ISD in more than two decades. The 432,000-square-foot Chaparral High School can accommodate up to 3,000 students and includes 72 classrooms, 22 science labs, a media center and flexible learning spaces in common areas. It also includes Joseph L. Searles III Stadium, which will serve as the district’s second regional athletics stadium.

In July, we broke ground on two new elementaries in Bastrop ISD, which are anticipated to open in Summer 2023.
