American Constructors worked with the Temple Economic Development Corporation and the Temple Chamber of Commerce to build a commercial plaza in a focal point of downtown development. The downtown plaza includes two office complexes and an open area for public gatherings.

The plaza was designed and developed with a campus-like feel. The Temple ISD Administration Facility sits on one end with the Santa Fe Business Center on the other. The business center houses offices for project co-owners, Temple Economic Development Corporation (EDC) and Temple Chamber of Commerce, as well as offices for Workforce Solutions of Central Texas. The two-story facility also includes a career center, boardroom, training room, and conference rooms.
We used a value-managed design approach to stay on budget, while also delivering high-quality results. We worked hand-in-hand with designers and the owner during the pre-construction process to optimize the value of each component of the building, including the foundation system, exterior skin, mechanical system, and finishes. By doing this, we were able to minimize any cost-cutting measures necessary once the project was bid.
We also developed a list of bid alternates and finishes that could easily be incorporated into the project without exceeding the budget.
For the outstanding work on this project, American Constructors received the ABC Central Texas Excellence in Construction (EIC) Eagle Award. The EIC strives to honor those who exemplify the highest quality of workmanship in their projects, while upholding a dedication to building projects on time and on budget.
