On October 24th, American Constructors proudly received two EIC Eagle Awards at the 2024 Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Central Texas Excellence in Construction award ceremony. This award, which is the highest granted at the local level, was granted to the 1111 West 6th Street redevelopment and Del Valle ISD’s Early College High School projects.

Team members Joe Taparauskas, Stephen Nemec, Tim Shelton, Dan Horan, and Daniel Lind represented American Constructors at this annual event, which recognizes exceptional quality, safety, and training in the construction industry.

The 1111 West 6th Street project, a mixed-use redevelopment on the former Austin ISD headquarters site in downtown Austin, features a transformed four-story office building with a modern façade and 150,000 square feet of space. Despite setbacks from the COVID-19 pandemic, including tenant changes and supply chain delays, American Constructors successfully revised the redevelopment plan, addressing structural issues, finding cost-saving solutions, and ensuring timely delivery of critical materials. The team’s open communication, quick decision-making, and collaboration with clients allowed the project to maintain access and aesthetics while planning for future construction phases, delivering a quality building without compromising project integrity.

Del Valle ISD’s Early College High School and P-TECH Manufacturing Studio is a model for educational and workforce development facilities. This innovative project equips students with hands-on experience in advanced manufacturing and STEM, bridging the gap between education and industry through a unique partnership with Del Valle ISD and local industry leaders. The state-of-the-art facility, featuring adaptable learning spaces and industry-grade equipment, underscores our commitment to empowering the next generation with critical skills for high-demand careers in Central Texas.

We’re grateful to ABC for recognizing our work on these projects and extend congratulations to all the other award recipients!
